Kobe Bean Bryant and Gianna Maria Bryant, two souls gone way too soon. On Sunday, January 26, 2020 basketball great Kobe Bryant along with his daughter and 7 other individuals perished in a fatal helicopter crash right outside Calabasas, California. Kobe was 41 and Gianna was 13. Although Kobe was a famous and beloved professional basketball player, he was so much more. He was a father, a husband, an author, and above all, an inspiration.
Kobe has survived by his wife Vanessa and his three other daughters. People around the world mourn his sudden death and many people are still in shock. Kobe’s accolades include being a five-time NBA champion, two-time Finals MVP, league MVP, 18-time NBA all-star, an Academy Award winner, and a bestselling author.
On a personal note, if it weren’t for Kobe Bryant, I wouldn’t be writing articles. I wouldn’t have a love for sports. I would not be motivated to put my best foot forward in most things I do. He was my childhood hero. Kobe not only inspired basketball players he inspired everyone with his two-word mantra, “Mamba Mentality”. This simply means to work hard, be the best you can be, and give the most to your craft no matter what it is. Kobe, you inspired this young journalist. We love you and everything that came with you. As Dr. Seuss said, “Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.” Mamba forever.
