The NSCHS water polo team recently competed in a state tournament and was able to bring home the gold! The water polo team managed to place 7th overall, which is an extreme accomplishment that’s called for celebration. Now you may be asking, what is water polo?
Water polo is a sport in which two teams attempt to score points by throwing a ball into the opposing team’s goal. The game is played in four quarters, in a body of water (usually a pool), and the team with the most points is the winner. NSCHS water polo is one of the many sports that our school has to offer.
Turner Templeton and Patrick Casey scored the most goals, helping to carry their team to victory. Freshman Gavin Friedman who is on the water polo team says, “I was sick when it happened, but when I heard the news I was so happy for my team and felt proud that I was apart of such an adventure.”
Mrs. Ferris, the coach of the water polo team, looks brightly towards the teams success. She says that the season went better than expected, and that the team coming together contributed towards their success.
Last year, water polo graduated seven team members, and seven team members are usually in a game of water polo. Despite the though, the team was able to come together and place 7th.
Connor Plumly, a sophomore and the goalie of the water polo team, says that the team is extremely friendly and there’s a brotherhood that they share, making it the best team he’s ever been apart of.
Overall, congratulations to water polo and their 7th place success!
