On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 3rd, Assistant Principal Eric Jones was surprised with a ceremony where he was named the Central Learning Community Assistant Principal of the Year.
Mr. Jones, who has been employed at North Springs since August of 2011, was given a cake and presented the award by Dr. Sherrod Willaford, Interim Principal of North Springs, and Mr. Kirk Shrum, the Area Executive Director for Fulton County Schools, in front of the entire North Springs faculty and staff.
Jones was named Assistant Principal of the Year for North Springs, as well as the Assistant Principal of the Year for the Central Learning Community, which is one of three “Learning Communities” in the Fulton County School System. The Central Community, as the name implies, is between the North Community and the South Community. Other high schools in the Central Area include Riverwood, McClarin, and Tri-Cities High Schools.
Jones follows after North Springs Physics teacher Zachary Luna in winning an award at the Central Learning Community level. Luna won an award as Teacher of the Year for the Central Learning Community two school years ago.
Jones oversees many teachers and is also very involved in discipline at North Springs. Many teachers value their relationship with Jones, extolling his kind nature, deliberate thought process, and ability to work with others.
“Eric is a true servant leader,” said Shrum.
