Introducing North Springs’ Top 5 Graduating Students

North Springs recently announced the Top 10 students for this year’s graduating class. The North Springs Oracle has conducted interviews for the Top 5 of those students. The top ten students are as follows: Juliana Abel, Daniel Charanis, Campbell Viersen, John David Grider, Nicholas Redd, Helena Weibel, Ali Shutzberg, Hayley Katzenstein, Salutatorian Lucas Capps, and Valedictorian Madhu Baskaran.

5. Helena Weibel

Q: What do you want to do in life?

A: I want to travel the world, so my dream is to be a Foreign Srvice Officer, then the Ambassador to China, and possily the Secretary of State to top it all off. I also want to be a good mother and wife some day

Q: Where are you going to college in the fall?

A: I will most likely attend Georgia Tech or the College of William and Mary.

Q: What do you want to major in?

A: I am currently planning on double majoring in international affairs and Chinese with a possible minor in economics or philosophy.

Q: What are some academic tips you have for other students?

A: The best advice I have for other students is to pursue what you are passionate about because you will excel the most in things you are interested in. Finding good mentors and role models are also important. Above all, stay curious!

Q: What is your favorite North Springs memory?

A: One of my favorite memories at North Springs was definetly making our own Harlem Shake video in our 5th period AP World History class. It was all Benschine’s idea, I swear!

Q: Who was/were your favorite teacher(s) at North Springs?

A: It is extremely hard to choose just one teacher, but I would have to say Mr. Benschine is my favorite teacher because he pushes his students to reach their potential with his signature tough love teaching style.

4. Ali Shutzberg

Q: What do you want to do in life?

A: Keep an open mind

Q: Where are you going to college in the fall?

A: Not sure, still waiting on decisions

A: Medical engineering

A: Find what you love and get good at it

A: 1.  All shenanigans with Mr. G

A: Mr. Luna and Mr. G

 3. Hayley Katzenstein

Q: What do you want to do in life?

A: I’d like to go into medicine, but I don’t know much more than that.

Q: Where are you going to go to college in the fall?

A: Most likely the University of Virginia! Go hoos!

Q: What do you want to major in?

A: I’m not set on anything, but probably something in life sciences.

Q: What are some academic tips you have for other students?

A: Always do your homework and turn it in on time. It’ll help you learn the material and it’ll help your grade in the class.

A: COMAP 2013!

A: I can’t pick just one! I’ve had a lot of great teachers over the past four years.

2. Lucas Capps

Q: What do you want to do in life?

Lucas plans to study physics in the future

A: The University of Alabama at Hunstville

Q: What do you want to major in?

A: Applied physics.

Q: What are some academic tips you have for other students?

A: Manage your time well and you’ll never have to work at home. Also, don’t worry about your handwriting, they’ll figure it out.

A: My first time pitching on varsity during my sophomore year, got the save.

A: Mr. G

1. Madhu Baskaran

Q: What do you want to do in life?

Valedictorian Madhu Baskaran aspires to practice some type of pediatric medicine in the future

A: In the future, I aspire to practice pediatric medicine.

Q: Where are you going to go to college in the fall?

A: As of right now, I will be most likely  be pursuing undergrad in-state and later attending a medical school for grad.

Q: What do you want to major in?

A: I would like to major in biomedical engineering, pre-med, or some other biological science.

Q: What are some academic tips you have for other students?

A: Set goals for yourself and if you put your heart and soul to it, you can achieve it. Hard work really pays off no matter where or when you start! Do not let one thing  bring you down. As Dory from Finding Nemo said, “Just keep swimming.”

Q: What is your favorite North Springs memory?

A: My favorite memories have been competing at HOSA State Leadership Conferences and COMAP. I also loved going to my first football game at North Springs.
