top 10

Andrew Pyon (Bottom left):
Do you have any hobbies?
I like to read, play basketball, and wrestle.

What is the first thing you are going to do after graduation?

I’m going to hug my mama right after graduation.

Where are you going to college?

Georgia Tech

What have you gone through to get this far?

I’ve worked really hard. I can speak English now I had to get through that. I’ve had a lot of sacrifice on my part and my family’s part; mostly my families. My parents are from Korea. They didn’t get know English so they couldn’t really help me with homework.

Madeline Spitzler (Third from the bottom left):

Do you have any hobbies?
I play tennis. I also like photography.

How would you describe yourself?

Funny, nice, friendly.

What have you gone through to get this far?

Studied a lot.

What college are you going to?

UGA

Elizabeth Wilkes (Top Right):

What college are you going to?
I’m headed to UGA as a Foundation Fellow next year!

What have you gone through to get this far?

What have I gone through…hmm…about twelve years of public education at the ‘springs’ schools (Dunwoody Springs, Sandy Springs, North Springs). It’s really weird looking back, but, it’s been a great experience overall. I’d say I’ve had some of the best and most memorable teachers throughout my time in school, and they’re the ones that have made this whole experience worthwhile. Teachers are truly inspiring people, and we’re lucky to have some of the best in Sandy Springs.

Do you have any hobbies?

I really enjoy the outdoors, and I’m hoping to do a lot of hiking, canoeing, and camping this summer. I also have a dream to own a farm someday (complete with chickens). I also have a giant stack of books for pleasure-reading I’m looking forward to devouring this summer.

How would you describe yourself?
Instead of describing myself, I’d like to describe my guiding life goal, which is to make this world a more sustainable place. It is my one hope that one day ‘environmental consciousness’ is an integral and everyday part of everyone’s conscience, the world conscience.
What is the first thing you are going to do after graduation?
Right after graduation, I’ll likely be attending a bunch of graduation parties, and then head to Chicago the week after for my delayed-gratification 18th birthday present…VIP tickets to see the NPR radio show Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! I’m extremely excited for that!
Do you have any advice for upcoming seniors?
For the upcoming seniors about to start the college application process…I would advise this:
1) don’t have your heart set on a single school. Keep your options open. You really never know what could happen.
2) try to do your essays over the summer. And since you know you won’t, like everyone else, then try to write a draft. Or even just an outline. Or just jot down random reflective thoughts when they come to you. It makes a difference later on, because college essays tend to require some serious self-examination, and that’s not going to happen in a matter of hours before the deadline.
3) this year goes by reaaaaaalllly fast. A #YOLO mindset isn’t necessarily a bad thing…

—And if you didn’t want to hear any of that…then just know this:
4). You’re going to be okay.

Olivia Sachs (Top Second Left):

I have just worked really hard to reach my goals.

Hilarious, smart, gorgeous, amazing (just kidding, I have no idea how to describe myself)

What is the first thing you are going to do after graduation?

Absolutely nothing!

Do you have any advice for upcoming seniors?

Do not, under any circumstances, apply to 13 schools.
